Discover Calauit Safari – Busuanga’s Hidden Wildlife
From Seaside Bliss to Safari Thrills

A rare wildlife encounter, just an hour from The Beach House Ocam Ocam.
Just when you thought Busuanga was all about white sand beaches and turquoise waters, you discover something wild—literally. Welcome to Calauit Safari Park, a unique wildlife sanctuary just over an hour from The Beach House Ocam Ocam, where exotic animals roam freely and nature remains beautifully preserved.
A Safari Born from History
The story of Calauit Safari is as fascinating as the destination itself. In 1976, under the rule of former President Ferdinand Marcos, the Philippine government established the park as part of a bold conservation project. The idea was to help save endangered African wildlife—giraffes, zebras, antelopes—by relocating them to this remote island in northern Palawan, which offered a similar climate and terrain to their native habitat.
What started as a controversial and ambitious project has since evolved into a peaceful sanctuary where African species coexist with native wildlife, including the Calamian deer, Palawan peacock-pheasant, and bearcats. Today, it stands as a living testament to both human intervention and nature's resilience.
How to Get There: Two Scenic Routes
Guests of The Beach House may choose to travel to Calauit Safari by either:
- Private van transfer (approx. 1 hour and 20 minutes) through the lush inland of New Busuanga, passing by fishing villages and scenic countryside,
- Or by boat for a more adventurous route—cruising along Palawan’s stunning coastline before arriving at the safari’s designated pier.
Whether you prefer a road trip through the island or a leisurely sea journey, we’ll arrange everything for you. Just let our team know your preference when booking
